Sydney
Day 6- Friday 12 March 2010
1. Scenic Seaplane Flight over Sydney
Time: 10:45am – 11:15am
Price: AUD $180 per person
Taking off from Australia’s from Rose Bay, it is hard not to be awed as beautiful Sydney Harbour unveils itself beneath. An immaculately restored seaplane adds to the nostalgia - such a contrast to the myriad of high-tech cruisers zigzagging the bay. As the Seaplane gently exit the harbour and marvel at the stunning sandstone cliffs rising abruptly from the sea. Reaching world famous Bondi Beach the pilot manoeuvres the aircraft so that all on board have a great view of the scores of surfers waiting for the next big wave.
From Bondi you head back into the harbour and climb to 1000 feet, even for a seasoned local the vista is truly stunning. Track to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, and complete a circuit above both famous icons. On descent back to Rose Bay the pilot points out the beautiful houses of the rich and famous that punctuate the area before gently splashing back down to earth.
Guests to make their own way to/from Rose Bay Airport.
2. Seaplane Fly & Dine – Jonah's, Palm Beach
Time: 1130am – 04.00pm
Price: AUD $525 per person (Minimum of 2 required)
Perched high on the edge of a cliff, enjoying dramatic views of Whale Beach and the sprawling Pacific Ocean, Jonah's at Palm Beach is one of Australia’s most prestigious ocean retreats. Something of a Sydney institution, Jonah’s salubrious guest list has included Laurence Olivier, Anthony Hopkins, Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall. Departing Sydney Harbour late morning your seaplane flight tracks north past Sydney’s spectacular northern beaches before touching down in the expansive waterway of Pittwater. Jonah’s courtesy vehicle will meet you at the dock and transfer you the short distance to the restaurant. Jonah’s offers Modern Australian cuisine under the direction of award-winning chef George Francisco. George's style of cooking has a significant French influence, but it is his passion for finding and using the best and freshest local produce that will ensure Jonah's diners are as impressed about the food as they are about the restaurant’s 180 degree views of the Pacific Ocean. Enticing you to leave such a stunning location is difficult, but we find the prospect of a glorious afternoon seaplane flight back to Rose Bay, encompassing a Sydney Harbour circuit in front of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House does it for most!
Guests to make their own way to/from Rose Bay Airport. Tour includes Seaplane Flights and 3 course a la carte Lunch at Jonah’s Restaurant.
